The Highs and Lows.......

One minute you’re up and the next you’re down. We were having a blast here in Macau enjoying the hospitality of the tourist board and holding our end up in the racing. Qualified 15th and were holding that position in the race with the possibility of gaining a couple of places when 3 laps from the end it all went belly up. Ben was involved in an incident with another rider going into Fishrmans Wharf and collided with the Armco suffering serious injury. He was taken to the hospital and underwent 9 hours in surgery and 2 days in intensive care. He is now in a private room and on the road to recovery so he is in no danger and it should all end well. I have stayed on here with him and we will fly back together when he has the ok to fly from the doctors hopefully in a few more days.

We have a provisional date to be repatriated, should be back at Manchester on Tuesday around 06.30. The sooner the better as his shoulder is badly broken and will need surgery to screw it back together. Business class because he cannot sit up for very long so he wil pop a sleeping pill and sleep most of the way. 13 hours.

Have a good flight home , once he's home and had his surgery he can start the healing process. Although most bikers seem to strap themselves up and carry on, I'm not making light of the bad crash more full of respect for race riders who are a breed apart.

Hope you both eventually got home OK and that Ben is soon on the road to recovery. I've just watched the Macau Motorbike GP tonight on Tivo it was on ITV4 last night so should be still available on catch up. Very unforgiving circuit it anything goes wrong.

When they show the 2 bikes lying on the track the commentator says that both riders escaped with minor injuries! A little whitewashing of the facts I think. Lol
If you have seen the clip of the young lady driver in the F3 race who flew over the barrier at Lisboa corner she suffered similar injuries to Ben. She was one room down from him and we all became friends. When she makes it to F1 she has invited me to Monaco for her first race there.
