My new OEM camshaft sensor for the M44 (B12.14.1.743.072) cost £98.36 from Sopers last June. Haven't had cause to replace the crankshaft sensor.
I rang Sopers yesterday and they want £127 after zorg discount. Found a siemans OEM part for £80 delivered so going with that one.

Must be tempting to go for non OEM when they are so much cheaper?

Don't be tempted for non OEM you will end up paying twice, been there done that lesson learnt.

I had this exact problem recently. The car wouldn't start unless I help down the accelerator and then it wouldn't keep idle revs. Sounded awful.

My code reader told me error code P0335 which is the Crankshaft position sensor (not camshaft).

From memory I got a replacement OEM part for around $90USD. It's actually not too hard to replace. You have to take the top half of the intake manifold off to get to it though. There are steps here: https://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/te...ent/37-FUEL-Crankshaft_Sensor_Replacement.htm

It took me probably half a day and I'm not that technical.

I forgot to say, only take the top half of the intake manifold off. The bottom half looks like way more work and isn't required.

None genuine OEM quality parts are different fron non OEM parts. The price is usually half way between cheap crap and BMW price. The one I got for my Z3 was a Bosch part with the Bosch logo ground off. Supplied by ECP. NEVER gave me a problem, however the cheap crap they supplied me first which had no makers marks at all, lasted only a few days.

Ask for OEM quality part.

Tony.

ps. There is no logical reason for paying twice either, all parts have to have a warranty. If it fails you would get it replaced.

I just checked mine, got the FEI part. Same as Tony's it just looks like the BMW one just with the logo scratched off.

Alistair, if there is a part number still visible note it down and search it in Google. I did that with my one and it came up with a Bocsh part number and description.

Tony.

Yes mate it is but I have been warned from several on here inc our techs Tony and Lee to stay well clear so I will do as I am told!
I'd found a siemans OEM part online yesterday for £80. I've just been on GSF with this weekend's code (WKD56) for anyone needing anything and they're premium one is £127 down to £56. Anybody know what brand that is likely to be?
Unfortunately I was emailed by my solicitor last night asking me for another £375 so the car is going to have to wait until payday now. I am however still going to remove the old part today. Thanks to @Alistair Francis for the link.

So reggies running like a bag of spanner’s.... probably because of the ‘nut job’ driving it...

I would Dave stick to OEM with parts like this without a doubt. Hope it works out well with the house too. Extra £375. What for :(

Hope you get Reggie back up and running soon.

BTW - what dirt has your solicitor got on you that they can demand money and you pay up on the nail like that? ;)

I got away with just £5 on my last visit to a solicitor - still expensive for 90 seconds work though.
