Just stopped off at Brymor ice cream on our way up to Leyburn in Richmondshire. You'd be hard pressed to find better ice cream .
Not seen any Z's about yet though!

Mostly glued to the TV I guess. There some great ice cream places around these days, all part of diversifying for farmers.

There is Tony your right but some of them once they have a name for themselves see to drop off a bit. Have you everywhere been to Blyton ice creams nearly Gainsborough?
I really don't think that they're anything like as good as they where. They are still good but there are some a lot better and more for your money.

Not been to Blyton for a while to be honest mate even though it's only about 10 miles away. The nearest to us is Daisymade just off the Lincoln A46 by pass at Skellingthorpe roundabout if you're passing it's worth a visit Kev.
Sargeants at Hibaldstow was the only local one when we were kids.

No not been to that one Tony, will definitely give it a try. We used to go to bird auctions at Skellingthorpe many years ago.
I used to love Sargeants, they used to come round our villiage which was Scotton at that time. My dad knew Mr Sargeant fairly well and we often used to call in at Hibaldstow.
Someone else has bought the Sargeants ice cream , they have a show in Barton upon Humber but I have'nt tried them, don't want to spoil my childhood memories :)

We used to get the Sargeants van round on a Wednesday teatime out side our Ma and Pa's place. My late father-in-law bred Budgerigars years ago and had dealings with a National hero in Geoff Capes. To see a Budgie in those great big hands was amazing.

They also used to stand at Gainsborough markets on Tuesday and Saturday, an old Bedford it was, pale yellow/cream coloured.

I served my time in Gainsborough at Marshalls, nice to see that they have preserved some of it.
Yes I remember seeing their van in the market place but can't remember which day, it wouldn't be a Saturday for me as I used to help my dad on the weekends .

Do you happen to remember the old lad who operated the overhead crane?
His name was Harry Pine?

Which shop was he in?
I'm really bad with names, there is one I can remember who drove one of the OHC's in the roller shop, but this one was female and I'm fairly sure her name was Lil.
But during my apprenticeship I spent time in most shops and the tool room so if I could see his face I'd probably remember him.
Did you know him?

Yes my wife's uncle mate. He was made redundant several times then set back on in the same job. I worked across Spring Gardens at Central Garage from 77 to 86.

Apologies I thought I'd already replied to this!
I probably would have but there were quite a few OHC'S over the works. Do you know which shop he was in?
I left in 76, I'm trying to place Central Garage on Spring Gardens but my memory fails me, who owned it at that time?
