Been getting the coupe ready for its MOT next month. Bit of a list but its going in the right direction, so today was sorting out my third brake light.

Had a bit of an issue with fusses blowing when I closed the boot door, thought I had sorted it on a few occasions. Problems with intermittent faults is by their very nature, they are a pain to find, until today, when this horror show reared its ugly head.

All live, all waiting to short out and kill my coupe, the larger wires are the heated rear screen, fortunately never used it, I'm guessing if I had I would not now own the coupe.

So stripped it back through the car checking the wires as I went, made safe until I get the boot loom repair kit. On the plus side the third light now works and I'm not going to have a boot fire.

Also gives me the excuse to fit some under seat fire-extinguishers.

That's not good and well spotted.

Had this happen on an old galaxy too.
Very common on our cars and can definitely cause problems...
I still don’t run a boot light even though it’s all been rewires there!

The loom of doom is its affectionate name, very common fault on Coupes and Roadies
