Write Up Tour de France ,Italy and Switzerland

I know what you mean,there never seems like enough time,but I supose it always leaves you wanting more and that's a good thing :).

Great photos Hugh. Would be a Bu--er if you met a car coming the other way on that road. I am toying with the idea of going back to the Alps next year AGAIN. Maybe stay in Livigno for a week as it is a tax haven and really cheap Petrol
Have you ever been to the Matterhorn? We started up the road towards zermatt but just visited a little ski resort above Visp ,not enough time lol. I haven't done any exploring on the Italian side.

Here's the picture that fired my imagination .lacets de montvernier

No not yet. I am thinking of giving us a few days to explore on the way back. Shorten the time to get to Livigno around 23 days 2 nights and around 5 days coming back and traveling the south side. Me and Maurice did the Bernard Passes last year and stayed at Tgnes in the National Park a few miles from Maurices home town =))

Looks just like the Stelvio but with greenery

Sounds epic :highfive::coolsteer)jealous already

We visited Livigno last year and it is a really picturesque village right in a valley. It also has access to a lot of places we have not visited yet

That sounds like fun and Italy is so nice ,where do you fancy visiting? I have to say I usually go for the roads

We will go down the Klausenpass, Julierpass to the Silvaplanna and through St Moritz and thats just to get to Livigno. Probably visit Davos as there are some nice passes there and back. There is also a pass we have seen that leads out of Bormio that we have wanted to do so will see where that is. Just play it day by day when we are there

Perfect :scorecard:

The last of my pics,I'm glad I took them sa I always like to look back over them and it only takes a minute to pull over and take one.If anyone needs a word of encouragement or a couple of recommendations ,from my perspective of course as we all enjoy different things.But I can tell you what we like.

We had a nice car but it would be great to have the z down there.This worked really well and I think we might do it again as you cut out 4 days traveling to get to the Alps and back.Its not exactly a cheap holiday but it can be done on a reasonable budget and your getting a epic experience.
