Just like to add our thanks to Tony and Shirl for all their hard work. Everything was organised perfectly again, this was our third year.
The staff atThe White Swan were very helpful to us, feeding us most evenings and they didn't seem to mind us winning their pub quiz.
We found The Black Swan at Marton a very nice place to stay.
'Bertie' wants me to pass on his love to everyone he met on the trip.
We had rather a long journey home but still manage a bit of site seeing, at the Harringworth Viaduct.

Thanks Gaz for reserving this for us.

I will start things off by saying a huge thank you to every one who came and supported our event. A great turnout on a glorious day.

Well it appears that there is a God after all. Most of you came to our event will know that me and Shirl received notice of a planning application to build a big bungalow right where we chatted and enjoyed the sweet treats only a few feet from out fence. Obviously we were not pleased but at the end West Lindsey C.C. have shown some common sense and planning has been refused. Stating the obvious, as we did, that it could only increase the risk of our property being flooded.
This is the plan proposed, 4 bedroom "Dormer" style.

This is the proposed view from the rear where they wanted to raise the ground level by 1.5M before starting to build, meaning the bottom of the walls would be level with the top of our fence!! Even the elevation isn't accurate.

Our fence is shown on the left side of the drawing. This is continually described as being "sympathetic" to the neighbouring property. WTF?
Anyway it has been,

Bad news is the other monstrosity at the far end of the lake looks like it's going ahead albeit slowly.

Lets hope they don't overrule it on appeal

I hope not mate but it's been refused on flooding risk and I can't see that changing. We had a council OPPO called at our house to see what we are objecting to and she agreed with us too.

Tony.

Great news Tony, it is unusual to beat the planners.
It is rare Mike, especially how the local councllors are as "close" as these lot.

Tony.

That's good news indeed Tony, we may be allowed to use the field again next year!!!!

Mike

Just for the members who stayed locally this year at the Black Swan at Marton and visited the White Swan at Torksey Lock over the weekend of our meet this year. I saw this poster in the pub last night showing how much they raised this year for charity and you all contributed so please give yourselves a pat on the back.
