Sorry to hear about the damage to your car! A good BMW approved body shop should be capable of doing a first class repair and paint job and include a warranty with the work! Here's hoping the car is back to normal soon.:)
BMW main dealer bodyshop repaired my 5 series when it got T-boned. Finish and colour match was brilliant. 6 months later a darn great chunk of filler opened up in the sill revealing an unrepaired split.
No they didn't accept responsibility!

There will be a little 1 or 2 man-band bodyshop somewhere local that can make a proper job of this probably without even taking the bonnet off.

Don't get too down about it, it will fix. Its your car, you decide.

I would say thats a light repair it should pull without much issue and where it is you may well get away with a smart repair its a small area to blow in @Sean d is the man to ask .

Thats a piece of cake to repair and if it came into our shop it would be £175 + vat, plus the grills of course, get a quote and ask the person to pay with out going through insurance, most will jump at the chance, good luck

I had a similar dent in mine, I hit a deer one morning on the way to work.

Ended up getting it repaired, wish it was £175 though, cost closer to £400 from memory.

I can help you with the grills, i do have various undented bonnets too, but you'd need to get them sprayed your colour, where are you based?

I will call the fleet insurance at our company and see what they suggest. As it doesn't effect the person who did it, I will have so see if they will pay a lump sum for the repair

As Sean says - it looks like a £200, maybe £300 repair - at the end of the day the other driver probably has to stand that as their excess anyway so they would be forking that much out regardless. Tell them you are planning to get some nice cheap quotes and see what they say, they left their details so they are obviously honest enough and would I assume go along with it.

Try @spurs fan in a coupe for a second hand one, I did at the time I was looking at buying one but transport to get it over here knocked that idea on the head.
Think I was quoted €1100 for a new one.
Get a second hand one, a repair on a dent like that could run up to lots of ££££'s

Gutted for you. I'd be devastated! I too would speak to the driver or company and see if they'll pay for repair. Be best all round, @Sean d price seems very good if he's nearish to you. If you went to them with a sensible quote I can't see why they wouldn't be happy to pay to repair it for you. It wouldn't be written off if it went down the insurance route. After haggling they'd be paying you £2500-3000 which is no where near repair cost .

What argument did they give for not standing by their work, and did you not take it further?

I just realised i'm gonna be shafted and left out of pocket whatever happens. If the claim goes through and it gets repaired my insurance premium goes up £500 even though it wasn't my fault and I wasn't even there. Which means if I cancel the claim I have to fix it from my own pocket plus now it will be on my record I made a claim even if it's of zero value. It may go up depending on how they calculate it so I need to find that out. I had no route to go off the books because the other party just wants to go through insurance because they don't pay for the insurance.

Just really sick of this. Insurance companis run the biggest scam of all, it win win all day long

Make the claim. Cancel the insurance and move it somewhere else. A £500 uplift is a joke!

That uplift was just me doing a comparison between with and without the no fault claim on comparethemarket

A similar thing happened to me a couple of years ago, I was rear ended and my car was a written off, I claimed through insurance and the person that hit agreed that they was at fault and their insurance paid in full, however my insurance company put my premium up, I changed company and was honest that I had claimed but not at fault, the new premium was lower then my original,

I can't honestly see them doing that mate. It's 100%+ on what most if us are paying for our annual premiums.

I had a accident a year ago and my insurance went up by double then I had to claim for my screen and that put my insurance up (though they said it would not  ) so I just replaced the screen on my Z and paid for it myself £210 in case anyone wondered though TBH if the Mrs had not have broken her ribs we would have been well out of pocket so now I carry a bit of 4x2 just in case ;)

I got knocked off my motorbike a few years ago and quite badly hurt, completely not my fault. As the claim took some time to settle it was shown as outstanding. This meant that when I declared it for car renewal they more than doubled my premium forcing me to sell my car and get one more suitable for a teenager! I have about 30 years ncb in a car.
My bike insurance actually went down as I stayed with the same company who were well aware that I was not at fault.
In my working life I deal with collisions a lot and due to my experience I often advise completely blameless parties to contact the blameworthy party's insurance company direct.
If any of my vehicles were ever stolen the last people I would tell are my insurance companies!

Insurance wrote it off :( They are offering a good price though, I am thinking of cutting my losses and get another one with a bigger engine. Only real loss will be my exhaust mod
