Write Up Silverstone Classic 2014 Zedfest

Many of the Z3 owners may have left before the afternoon session for pre-'66 F1 cars. Just read that Denis Welch who was involved intje accident duriny tue Fi st couple of laps died if his injuries in the medical centre. A sad end to an otherwise enjoyable event.

Seen that. Bloody hell......

Definetly a bad ending to a good weekend. Just shows we should enjoy the time we have. Just buried two friends this weekend after a motorcycle accident. Be carefull!! JIM

thats really bad news RIP

BAD.

Those little single seaters are death traps. The open wheels mean that any contact between the cars wheels can flip them. Because the cars are so light the revolution of the wheels causes the cars to turn over. The report says they were doing low speed, but that doesn't matter, they are dangerous.

I have friends that will race 200mph plus cars but would not race in those.

It's strange how health and safety in the UK today is so oppressive with such substances as bleach, but no one bans those. Odd.

He would have been well aware of all those facts but the joy of racing would have been to his very core. He obviously died doing what he loved and adored. They are a car that would thrill and be a great pleasure to race.

Condolences to his family, as those are the guys that will suffer his loss.

This man died for the love of his sport, the greatest tragedy is that for every accident like this, pressure will build to stop these fine old cars racing, after all the 1960s was a different era and many great racing drivers died during that period.

We can only celebrate his life and hope that these cars will continue to be used for the purpose that they were made.
