Not the usual location that i am used to. Situated in the middle of town car park created quite a atmosphere with plenty to see and lots of people viewing a quite eclectic mix of vehicles on show. Just a few pictures of what was on show. Not many Zeds just mine, Doms and T-Tony's

Pair of Mini's, both in great condition

Austin 1800 (landcrab) Rally car parked at the side of a very nice Austin 2200

Andyboy's 7 series 300k+ mileage not looking bad for it

Its a bitzer, its mother probably loves it

Nice Escort 2 1600 Sport

Did like the Granada Ghia, in need of a bit of TLC

Biggest car of the show

Almost a boat.webp

I’ll add mine later Paul. Some nice stuff there, shame about the backfiring idiot.

Tony.

Some more pictures from me.

Only joking. Of course I noticed the Z's. Best cars at the do.

But it's not everyday you see a 40+ year old bagheera still road legal. Them early, pre facelift ones, had zero rust protection.

Like the Matra Rancho, largely made of GRP. Floor pan from Simca 1100 as was the Rancho. Good engine in the Bagheera too. 1442cc unit from thr Alpine “S” model.

Tony.

Yeah. Rancho 'Was' a simca 1100 with jacked up suspension and, as you said, a kind of, SUV style GRP roofline and rear panels. It actually looked very x-country capable even though it was just front wheel drive. Cross over SUV long long before SUV's became fashionable.

Rancho, as you said, 1442 engine from simca alpine/solara.

Bagheera has a lot of metal. You could remove all the grp panels and still drive it. That's the problem. All the grp surface panels last forever while the frame underneath is rotting away.

The bagheera started out with the simca 1100 Ti engine. Which was actually 1294cc with 4choke weber carb setup (2x36DCNF)

Later 'S' models had the 1442 engine but with a single twin choke 36DCNF with same 84hp as the 1294. But later ones went back to the 4chokes which uped it to 90+

Sorry. They're really sh*te cars but I just love em.

I only ever came across 1 Simca 1100 Ti, pretty quick little car for the day. My last one of these type of cars was a 1984 Solara 1.6 GLS. It was sold new where I used to work to a guy called Stan Hartley and I said to him I will buy this from you when you sell it, and I did. Two-tone green paint (dark over light) and rich velour up holstery. Open/tilt/ remove glass sunroof fitted by me.

Tony.

84hp. As you say. Quite nippy for a 5 door hatchback. I always think of the ti as the first hot hatch.

My brother had a few Alpines while I had 1100LX then got into bagheeras. Had 3 or 4 on the go at one point. Never had clean finger nails in those days.

I still have a tappet adjusting tool in my toolbox even now. Every 3,000 miles fi needed or not.

Tony.

This was a memory for me, Dad had one in the mid 70's. Very rare when new even rarer now VW 412 LW Variant. Forgot how ugly it was. Estate car and a boot was a novelty. Biggest memory i have was ending up in a ditch on Woodhead. Not the best handling car in the world.

That X19 is RHD but isn't that a US spec big bumber? Looks like a frog with it's tongue out. Wonder if the owner fitted that on purpose.

Tony.

Needed. They didn't not never need adjusting. Those engines were always very tappety. Bagheera looked sporty but sounded like a barrel of spanners.
