Have just arrived home (got back 1am last night) from a almost perfect trip away.
Every year I meet up with a mate from my offshore days. Previously we've been abroad but this year we thought we'd have it near where he lives and not far from my parents. This year was Aviemore.
This gave me the excuse to revisit some roads I've grown quite fond of. And found myself staying at Dalmally so I could wind up to Connel Bridge and up through Fort William, stopping at Spean Bridge for some food and to admire the beautiful Commando memorial which seems to be turning into a little tradition of mine having done it several times. But the views never get old and neither do the roads, especially heading to Beauly from Drumnadrochit. The first few miles out of there and up over the hills are an absolute riot.
Unfortunately an old fault has reeled it's ugly head. Leaving Aviemore last night, it quickly became apparent that the Zed lacked power. And reluctant to start. I've checked this morning and I have another cam sensor fault. Looks like GSF parts aren't up to the job.....
Oh and driving down through what felt like a hurricane was not ideal. Still I'm home and the Zed almost ran faultlessly.

Great photos - sounds like good trip.

We have friends in Lewiston just west of Drumnadrochit, and we live east of Beauly, near Cromarty, so we drive that A833 road over the top down to Drum every couple of weeks. The Loch Ness Inn at Lewiston is a favourite haunt, doing great food (excellent macaroni cheese, Scotland's second national dish), beers and malts. I quite often end up having to stay over! That road is perfect Zed territory, great fun to drive, and the views can take your breath away. Not many places to pull over and photograph though!

Thanks for the pics, hope your cam sensor gets sorted easily,

Cheers

Paul

Looks a great road trip and thanks for sharing. Pity about the fault. What's GSF stand for @Christ87 ?

The Oakwood Restaurant doesn't look like much but does some amazing food.
I grew up over Huntly/Banff way but left to join the Army. So many of these places are a trip down memory lane. My folks live in Nairn now. So it always feels like a cheap holiday when I visit.
If I'm honest it's hard for me to pull over and take photos because I'm having too much fun driving.

I've had a thought. One sensor was GSF and the other Carparts4less. Once I've figured out which sensor it is I'll check my paperwork then disperse blame. So for now I'm not blaming GSF (German Swedish French) car parts

Great photos, it's always best to go OEM for cam sensors.

They used to be called German Swedish back in the day, then the company realised that they were missing out on all the French crap which broke down more frequently than German and Swedish cars. Hence GSF.

Tony.

Some great pictures there Chris .

Putting me in the mood as Lynne and I will be back up in Connel in a couple of weeks to recce this year Scottish run.

Falls of lora hotel will be our base this year .
There is a car park just beside the bridge ( if it's not full )

A82 through Glencoe (I have stopped in the same layby for a photo :)). There a vid I posted on here that has some of the route up out of Glencoe on it. Lovely drive to the Trossachs done it a few times, very nice.

It really is stunning through Glencoe. Just to confuse you I went up the A85 and the A828. The briefly drove down the A82 for a couple of minutes for a quick glance a the mountains. And then spun it around and carried North to Fort William.
I love the A82 when the stars have aligned and it's not full of traffic. The scenery is breathtaking. But the road through Dalmally edges it for me for sheer driving thrills.
If my OH had joined me I'd have probably done the A82 all the way.
The A84 from Callander also mind-blowing. A86....I'll shut up. There's so many great roads in that part of the world.
The B9007 Carrbridge to Nairn...

Love Scotland, done Switzerland, Austria, French Alps Northern Italy etc and after 3 trips up there would put parts of Scotland right up there with them.
