Write Up Revised Euro 2015 Road Trip

@miller1098 i have been looking at the 24 hr crossing from Portsmouth to Northern Spain then back via the Pyrenees and Atlantic Coast of France. Heading back to Portsmouth via St Malo. Was that your sort of route ? Early September time too.
portsmouth to blbao is a good sail done that a few times takes the strain of the spain run.pride of bilbao nice ship.

Would never do a long sail not as long as i have a car i enjoy driving :woot:

Driven to Spain through France a few times,I'm up for a boat ride , if it gets me to the up and down twisty bits sooner :)

Thats the cost of our fuel for the full trip and i would lose 2 days sat and sleeping on water. I would sooner stay, walk round and have a nice evening meal in a warmer climate in somewhere i have not visited before than do that

There is probably very little difference time wise. You catch a boat arrive a day later then have to drive to the Pyrenees seeing hardley anything but water. Via road it takes 2 days to get to the Pyrenees and you drive through lots of different places and even get to sea the water ;)

I can see where your coming from.I think it's a day sailing it ads a little to the adventure.dont hate me but parts of France can be a bit monotonous if your trying to get somewhere

Only way to travel. Great car good company oooh n the missus :ymdevil:

gorra say have done all the boats via europe but not in my z but we are going in the z so shortist ie dover is my preferd this time .

I would love to take a long break but for some it's not possible with work. The trip would run out on a Friday night to Spain arriving Sat evening. Hotel and relaxing before heading north on the Sunday. The ferry back would be the following Sat across the channel. A great deal on z fun in between.

agree there its a long haul on the back roads and i dont want motorways but im sure my grandson will say french back roads googy hes not in to boats tbh

A lot of France has tooo many straight roads, i just like the fact i can plan to stay somewhere different every time i go. some places are really nice some places on the bad occastion can be not so nice but it all adds to the adventure. I would be bored to death on a boat, thats why i wouldnt do a cruise,

You also have to bear in mind us Northerners are at least 31/2 to 4hrs to get down to either Dover or Portsmouth so we have done half a days driving before we start

I have now done the Alps twice gone through the Pyrenees at different points around 3 times and i have to be honest i dont think i would of enjoyed the experience if they had been done in a normal type of car but doing it in the 3 and now in the 4 i can honestly say i love doing it and think i will (money and health being ok) do it for the foreseable future
