Had a text from a forum member Andy Thomlinson on Friday saying he was participating in a local club run and he would be fairly local to me on Sunday morning, so I agreed to pop up and say Hi.
We have had a cracking few days with the weather and today was to be no different so I set off to see Andy just after 9am, top down of course (bugger me the Z4 is a brutal place to be in the cold with the top down). The place I was going to meet Andy was at a glen called the Rest and be Thankful, for those that attended the Scottish run last year we trundled through here.
The rest and be thankful is a beautiful glen, with a single carriageway road cut in to the hill side, lower down in the glen is the old military single track road which is out of bounds to the public. To cut a long story short Andy wangled a trip for me up the old military road today as the car club he is involved with had permission to use it. Thanks Andy
(@AGT1953 ). The road started off with a section that was curtailed to 20mph as live stock were present, the next section had a start banner!. oooh! Cars set off with an interval in between and then we could go full throttle to the top of the small section (as this is a private road, there are no restrictions). Brilliant fun. After I reached the top I had an hour or so watching all sorts of cars race and trundle up the hill, what a lovely morning.
