Write Up Recce Autumn Scottish run 23

Been away last couple of days doing the recce for this years Autumn Scottish Run.

Day 1.
Wednesday left Ayrshire heading north to the hotel we decided rather than going up and through Glasgow and Loch Lomond side we would take the coast road through Seamill and Largs to Gourock to catch the Western ferry to Dunoon weather was forecast not the best for the time away but decided to take the zed.

Navy gunship patrolling the Holy Loch passed in front of us on the crossing.
Got off the ferry just as the rain started managed to outrun it have way to hotel but came on heavy so forced to stop put hood up.
Got to hotel still rain on and off

After dinner decided to check out nearest petrol station Lynne said she didn’t want to come as she had an appointment with a spa bath

So off i went on way back decided to stop just past the 'rest and be thankful ' for a couple of pictures ( would be rude not to)

Back to the hotel into the bar for a nightcap

Day 2.
So after a hearty breakfast at the hotel it was off to recce day 1 on a day that would turn out to be one of trying to dodge the rain ( no mean feat as a lot of it but managed some decent roof down time)

No pictures before the first stop but got a few between the first stop and the lunch stop.
From Bridge of Orchy , Rannoch Moor and Glencoe pass.

We stopped for lunch at the Isle of Glencoe hotel

Off again round past Kinlochleven ( one of the roads temporarily closed after a landslip during some extreme weather you can see the scar from otherside.

Then off down past Loch Linnhe to our last stop at castle stalker.

Then last stint past Kilchurn Castle ( one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.

Day 3.
Out to recce run day 2 so after breakfast was out under leaden skies once again but rain was off so roof down

Again no picture on first stint but quick picture at first stop parking at Aberfoyle

Next off over the dukes pass towards calendar got a picture at the end of the pass.

Then stopped at Crieff Hydro for lunch

After leaving Crieff rain came on fairly heavy for a bit didn't get roof back down till after final stop back at Tyndrum.

Back at hotel after another great day out.

DAY 4.
Not too many pictures today as just journey back home
Rainbow across the loch this morning

So just a couple of pictures from the rest and be thankful and the road to Rhu.

Agreed but much better to take in roof down so dry would be the preferred option
