Write Up North Wales Last Minute Cruise - 25/10/2015

I thought about you this morning Steve as I scoured the leaden and overcast misty skies over Lincoln and I wondered if it was much better where you are and if you'd managed to get out.

Tony.

Thanks for thinking about Tony but the weather just wasn't inviting enough so spent some time with my god son. His 3.5yrs and a wonderful little chap and mad on steam trains.

Glad you had a good day anyway mate. Looking forwards to taking our grandsons over to Florida next spring, they're great.

Tony.

ps. I noted another couple of songs for the CD list.

Oh!, and just as a by the way, the sun did come out over Lincoln. About half an hour before it got dark.=))

Just my luck. Am in Lincoln today - looks like being a very wet day :-(

Certainly does Ian, welcome to the City. I'm on Carholme Rd. Where will you be?

Am taking the dog to see a specialist vet at the university. Am parked at MDs at the moment. The weather is dreadfull. There's a Z4 like yours parked over from us. image.webp

Hi Ian, just scrounged a charging lead, my iPad was dying! I'm just around the corner over the Uni bridge on the A57 at Tanvic Tyres.

Tony.

Sorry Tony - it took much longer than expected. Had to make tracks for home again. Will be back in coming months I expect.

Ok Ian, hope things went as well as they could today. Let me know if/when you're heading back. Safe journey home.

Just back. Called in my parents for a few minutes which was a big surprise for them. Makes the detour and the delays on the M1 worthwhile. Going to be a few visits to the vet over coming weeks but hopefully we've made some progress on problems over the last year or so and hopefully some normality can be restored soon.

@Low Rider and @Redline have you checked your mail yet ?
I have and I've got a speeding ticket from Sunday
It was the speed camera van on the A41 by pass just before Mc D's where we met
Clocked at 68 in a 60 :arghh:......thought I'd slowed down enough when i saw it.must have got me from a long way back :meh:
Typical.... 9.30 on a Sunday morning and barely any other traffic about.....but hey ho if you do the crime you face a fine...when caught
£100 fine and points :inpain:

Sorry to hear that Steve, what happened to the £50 fine? Then your Ins. co. Will load your premium too.

Tony.

Cheers Tony,I thought it was £60 for the fine and 3 points but obviously not any more.....the increase probably came in the same day i got caught :meh:,could be up to 6 points as well.

That's awful news and bad luck. I'd seen lots of them out and I hope I'd kept under the limit all the way up the A41.

Two things. You should be offered a speed awareness course (if you don't have any previous) but there's also 10%+2 which I my book just covers 68 in a 60 limit.

Just realised I haven't calibrated the speedo on mine

Just read the letter a bit more and can apply for a driver improvement course costing £85 but it's West Mercia so i imagine i would have to travel to that area to do it if my application is accepted, but it seems you don't get points if you do the course.
I thought the same Ian re 10% + 2mph so i may give them a call.

Painful but take the course. There may. Be a local one you can do.

The annoying thing is, when I walk the dog before 7am I see dozens of cars speeding in the space of five minutes on the main road here. Some are doing in excess of 70 in a 30 limit. I was nearly knocked over a few months ago. This is on a road with 14 killed and severely injured over that last twenty years. The police don't give a stuff. Yet they put a van regularly just two miles away to catch people doing 35. Our MP lives around the corner. Think I'll be having a word when I next see him. Should have said something when I saw him last.
