Got the post-inspection done, and everything looks great. Needed new front rotors due to some warping, and installed some BFG Rivals. Man, this is a smooth runner! I drove a few hundred miles this past weekend, both freeway and country roads, and I just love the handling and moderate power curve the Z3 has.
I got a CD changer to install but I can't figure out how to get it in to its resting place. Is there some magic to removing the rear plastic panel behind the seats? I also see there is a plug waiting for the changer, but I think I read somewhere that there are two plugs that need to be connected. Maybe the second one will appear once I get the panel removed....

Unfortunately it's a bit long wind to remove the interior. I used this guide: http://www.ex-parrot.com/pdw/mcoupe/rsm.html
It's all relatively straight forward, just time consuming

Good grief. I see why so many people just get an aftermarket system, or the business radio with the built-in single CD player. Thanks, Mnbrennan and GazHyde. I think....
