Nope, it's scary little beasties, too. Hopefully off to make some money, this time for me.

None too sure about painting these wooden things, I, and many others, like the way the plywood looks once it's all swirly and curvy.

Maybe some stain then to highlight the grain? I was just thinking about characterising it as a Welsh Dragon.

Settle down in a comfy chair and I'll tell you tales from British mythology. Or maybe not. If you go back far enough the Welsh did indeed have the red dragon, however, the Saxons (as they were before the English took over) had the white dragon, back in the days of Vortigern and Myrddin. Damn, I've obviously spent far too much time reading books. Anyway, leaving the dragon plain makes it suitable for both sides.

Ah. I've got a plan that'll distract attention from the body itself. Lets just say that googling "butterfly wing fabric" opened possibilities that I didn't know existed. Not entirely sure how to do it, but a couple of weeks ago I didn't know how to make a dragon, either. That little feller up at the top of the page came from a tea-towel from the tourist-tat shop in Pwllheli, going from a 2d image to a 3d object took some translating, but turned out worth it in the end. To everyone that's seen him so far, anyway. The alternative is sitting staring at cr4p on TV, and I ain't ready for that, oh no.

I'm a bit like the bloke on the TV ad, keep the door closed and spin the drill and tap the hammer now and again.

This is part of the joy of being single, I don't have to hide from anyone.Still spin the drills, and bang things about a bit, though. Luckily I've got artistically minded heighbours, and they like them unicorns.

I'm always very impressed with your creations. The use of the different coloured ply layers to give depth and character is amazing.

You must be using some high grade ply. Never see any inclusions in it. Either the UK know how to make plywood, or you're using structural grade ply.

That twisty tail must have taken a bit of head scratching to get the laminating right so you still had room to carve it between the twists.

It's all marine ply, I tried using the cheaper stuff, but there were so many voids, and it took so long to fill/sand them, I'm using the expensive ply instead.
And you're right about the tail, that took the best part of a day to get it to look the way it should. Next time it'll be easier. This is the wrong area to get y Ddraig coch wrong.
