Thank you for reporting back. It's good to hear your experience.
The 2.8 seems well over priced for the milage and it sounds like it would need a good amount spending on it to get it near it's potential. Price for the 1.9 seems nearer the mark for a good car at a dealer.
Cars being sold by long term forum members do come up occasionally and you stand a good chance of finding one with a known history where the owner will, most likely, tell you the good and the bad.
Enjoy the search.

I,ve had a 1.9 and now got a 2.8 . Yes the 2.8 is way faster but I really think you get more fun driving any car nearer its limits. With the 2.8 you simply cant, very often, and keep your license..so don't discount 1.9. There,s a good case for many cars simply being too capable and easy fast.. Yes I know the 2 8 is no supercar but its bordering on high performance. I used to have a Westfield with around 320 bhp/ ton. It was no fun on road. Too fast, too capable and not a cruising car.Accumulated 9 points with it. Sold it. Enjoy Z3 loads more and enjoyed 1.9 as much as 2 8. Both are capable of relaxing and taking in view with occasional spirited driving .

Exactly the same problem as in the bike world! Hence my main bike is now my Triumph Trident with ONLY 100 BHP lol plus it's retro as it is actually older than my Z! Also now on sorn simply because my Z3 has taken it's place.

thanks guys and gals for replying to the update..... I am glad to hear that what I found is "probably" right.... that 1.9 did feel like it was on rails... I was recently talking to a friend who has a 1.8 audi TT and he was nodding when I was telling him what I found as he also told me that the 3.2 TT had the same feeling, being front loaded with a big lump..... just like the 2.8 I tried... so it seems to be a common thing .... needles to say my mate has stuck with the 1.8 as he finds it "sticks " better....

So, just so I know for future viewing.... the 1.99 M44 engine finished being put into the Z3..... When ?????

Cheers

Lyndon...aka Sata

Same here actually! I sold a couple of my bikes earlier in the year, But I think I will sell my Trident next spring.

It's interesting to see how many Z owners are bikers too. Are Z's for retired bikers ????:)

At 69 I will never give up the bike even though it doesn't get out much due to health problems but can put on a sidecar if I need it( have a few) to keep me going!! The Zed goes to Trinity once she graduates high school in about 5-6 yrs then she can take me out for drives!! lol. JIM
