Today I woke up early. Installed the new coil to the Z (had some idling issues that are now cured) and since the wife had another of her legendary “going to my mother to help with the carpets” day, I have the day to myself.
Decided to visit Nafpaktos https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nafpaktoshave lunch and return using the B roads that pass through the mountains.
The weather is still sunny but I am sure that in the way back it will become cloudy and even misty.
Nafpaktos means boatyard and was the headquarters of the Athenians in all their operations in Western Greece,

The port and castle provide the main attraction for the town, both with well kept Venetian vestiges. Shops, cafés and bars dot the immediate area, while a café is also located within the castle walls.

The port also includes monuments commemorating the Battle of Lepanto (1571), and a statue of Cervantes (author of Don Quixote) who fought among other in this battle.
I am already on my second cup of coffee and pretty soon I will start the journey back home. It tooj me 2 hours to come and probably 3/4 hours to return.
Pics to follow…

cheers.

On the way back home, still one hour away, stopped for a cup of coffee and a smoke. (i hate smoking in the car, so each time i need my nicotine kick, I try to enjoy it with a nice Greek coffee - boiled at 99 degrees celsius).
I am in Thebes (theva) enjoying the last beams of the sun and soon I will start the last part of my journey. (And actually the most boring one).
I was lucky and managed to see two seasons within one single day.
while driving along the coast, it was a sunny and dry day but later on, up in the mountains the fog reminded me that we are in late November.
The little Z with its hardtop did its best to satisfy me, I really enjoyed it and only in race occasions I felt that it has just 118hp.
would I have enjoyed the journey more with a faster car?
Not anymore.
I am at a certain age and physical status that this is just right for me.
i just listen to my favourite music (Barclay James Harvest, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Roxy Music and such) leave all worries behind and just drive… I enjoy the scenery and relax.
time to go now, its getting dark, will reach Athens in about an hour.
hope you enjoy the photos.
cheers.
P.S the dish is called kokoretsi. Lamb intestines wrapped seasoned offal. Only the very brave eat this. I am not one of them. I was just hungry. Hunger makes you brave…

photos will upload in the next post. It takes ages to do this on cellular network.

BJH- concert for the people..one of my all time favs. actually going to revist them now

For some reason the server denies to upload all photos with the car. Says “too large to process”. Will resize them and try again from home.

mp3 plays “jealous guy” and I am slowly entering into the darkness of the highway.
Take care everyone.

B Roads again, with the Mazda this time.
Compared to the 1.9 Z, the 2.0 MX5 is a better car.
and how could it not be, being twenty five years younger and all new.
No regrets with this one, the skyactive-g engine is a mechanical marvel and the sound it makes on high revs always gives me the chills
would I be happier with the Z? Not with my Z.
had it been a 3.0 or a 2.8 I could enjoy the road and feel the excitement, but with the 118hp of the 1.9, definitely not.
cheers.

Awesome photos. Are you still travelling to Goodwood Revival?

Yes. I think I all all setup for this challenge.
in a week the car goes in for new tyres, service and inspection for a 9.000 km trip.
probably my last big one, lets hope all goes according to plan.

I go to the Revival and Members' Meeting almost every year, but this time I will be in Italy. What a shame…

Anyway, I am totally not jealous of your Greek B Roads toils… :D
