Hi all,

I have only owned my lovely Z3 for about a month and a half and some nitwit reversed into me ruining the passenger door.

Now - my insurance company have written it off but I took the buy back option as I couldn't bear to see it squished. I have had a quick chat with a body work garage and they seem fairly optimistic but I honestly don't have the time (nor a standby vehicle) to have this in a shop for however long it takes to fix.... So my question to the masses is ... if I were to sell it on as a project for someone - how much should I be asking for? And does anyone want it?

It is road worthy - I'm still using it daily to get back and forth to work etc. 89,000 miles, new hood in 2015, new battery last year. Some service history and MOT until March. Boston Green with tan leather interior.
First two pics were taken the day after the bump, 3rd pic was when I first collected it on Halloween! I bought it for £1800.

I very much look forward to hearing back from you all.

@spurs fan in a coupe @Synclare @mrscalex may be able to help with a second hand door as they all break Zeds

I have doors but would need painting, try @spurs fan in a coupe as think he broke a green one and that would be easy to swop over. You would achieve the best price selling it repaired.

Sorry to hear about your car, I can help with a door, shame you didn't ask a month ago as I had one your colour.

Where are you based? I break a few zeds a year as a hobby.

That damage doesn't look too bad, the window and miror look OK. I would suggest buying a door from one of our breakers and get it sprayed then it is a quick job to change it.

Indeed it would be a shame to lose what looks like a tidy Z3 for the sake of a door swap. What engine size is it @Liz Collyer ?

Tony.

Change the door and keep it, its quite an easy cheap fix especially if you get a colour matched one.

The car will be registered as a cat D write off so that will impact on the value. If you are so in need of a run around get a courtesy car from the body shop. If the car is the subject of an insurance claim the other party should pay for your courtesy car so you might want to argue your case with the insurance company

Got to be worth getting a second hand door and fitting it, you may find a colour matched used door which would be a bonus, your mirror looks as though it escaped damage and the glass is intact. Used door may come with the glass and lock so not a big job to replace it. If its a bare door then looks like your old parts will simply be a transfer job. If the car is in good condition it has to be worth getting it fixed.
Boston Green passenger door on ebay at the moment, I would snap that up to get yours fixed.

Green one would need touching in and no glass so it would need quite a few hours spent transfering the parts.

Lock barrel needs to be changed. Hinges have shims between the hinge and the door so adjustment can be done. Some fellow owners in the area could come over and help you with the job

Like most people have already said, put another door on it and keep it. It's a relatively low mileage car for it's age so you shouldn't lose much value, even being a Cat D.
Fix it, keep it, drive it and enjoy it

You have a PM @Liz Collyer . I have a Boston Green door and can bring it up to Swansea as I live there half the week.

If that's the only damage we should have you back on the road for £150 door and labour :)
Hi Rob. :thumbsup:A great offer mate.

That's a great offer and typifies what the spirit of Z.org is all about.
As others have said @Liz Collyer, fix it and enjoy the car. This offer would seem to make that a real option.
Well done @mrscalex .
