Sold to a member of the Z4Forum who collected the car today and will hopefully be along here shortly 👍

So 5 pages of 'progress thread' of all the improvements you have made......but absolutely no mention of the waterfall in the nearside headlight. Was that too expensive to address, thus impacting on your profit?

I am convinced that all these 'progress threads' and 'I'm keeping this one' nonsense are just elongated (free) sale threads for you to point prospective buyers to when you have done all the 'improvements' and are ready to move the car on for a bit of profit. Great marketing threads IMO.

You never mention how much you buy, or sell, cars for. And you rarely put up for sale threads unless you have to.

Admittedly, it took me a while to come up with a response to your post, and I toyed with everything from simply ignoring it to calling you out as a cnut but decided on the following:

I'd like to think my contribution to this forum over the past 6 years has been useful to some members and also provided a few smiles.

I can't claim to be knowledgeable from a mechanical point of view or provide in-depth feedback based on my driving capabilities.

But I would like to think that my unusual ownership history affords me a level of insight that is useful to share on here.

I enjoy keeping a progress thread and intend to continue, but other than meeting genuine prospective owners and enthusiasts, I don't like the sales process.

As a result, I do intend on keeping #35, but please forgive me if at some point down the line I decide to sell it for an alternative distraction - admittedly I do have form 😉

Keep doing what you're doing Gary. I for one like seeing your comparisons and insights, born of ownership. Not many around that have that . . .

The chap I sold the #34 to has just offered it up on the Z4Forum for £6k which is less than WBAC offered him.

In my mind that's a serious deal and I'd hate for anyone on here who is in the market for a VO E89 to miss out - even @Pond 🤣

Seriously though that's a cracking deal!

I nearly bit, but when I asked the boss if she liked the colour she said..no. So that's that for me. And I like the straight six.

I just told him I'd be amazed if he hasn't agreed a deal on it by tomorrow - I've not seen any 2015 models close to that price that aren't written off and certainly not Valencia Orange 🍊

I still think it's a shame that they discontinued the 23i & 30i after 2011.

You just did. ;) Which is abusive behaviour and not tolerated by any forum I've ever belonged to...

But anyway, I don't care about that. I'm not offended.

I also don't care that you buy and sell Z3s and Z4s as a 'hobby'. Good luck to you.
But I DO care that you pretend that is not what you are doing. You pretend that every one is intended as a 'keeper' when you know full well it isn't.
No-one and I mean no-one sells 34 Z3s and 4s by mistake.

I also noticed you didn't answer my question regarding the latest E89's knackered headlight, when you made a 'song and dance' about changing the wiper blades and salmon relays.

Really? Seriously, really?
6 days ownership with the ink still wet on the V5
Needs a new headlight (expensive)
18i SE base spec

The 6 day ownership will have the everyone (with any brains) running a mile, including the likes of WBAC. He may have a valid reason for selling so quickly but he is going to need to convince any prospective buyer big time.

And if it's so cheap, why don't you buy it back?

Go on then I'll play along with your trolling but please let me know if I've missed anything.

  • Abusive behaviour - I hope your seriously don't expect me to justify that with a response?
  • Intention to keep / nobody sells multiple cars - I stand by what I said, everyone is an intended 'keeper' but then the next one comes along and I can't help myself. Maybe I do have some compulsive disorder but I 've also gone on record on numerous occasions to say the Zed range offers something for everyone and there isn't really a bad one.
  • You haven't seen the headlight and I decided to ignore your question when you mentioned waterfall - but let me elaborate. In the progress threads I only discuss issues once I have found a resolution that would benefit the group. The headlight in question was showing signs of condensation but on inspection no visible cracks, chips or scratches and the unit functioned as normal. I was exploring a resolution but it appears that the LCI headlight on the E89 doesn't have the back cover you can remove to blow in hot air like the pre-LCI units do. Anyway it wasn't resolved so I hadn't dicussed it in the progress thread but it was something the new buyer was aware of and we discussed when they viewed the car.
In summary and please take this in the manor it's intended (as friendly advice and guidance) it's probably best not to pass comment until you understand the full background and are aware of all the facts.

I'd like to think the progress threads are of benefit to other member and similarly of the cars I have sold on to other forum members I hope they have been pleased with them and don't feel like they have been ripped off.

Granted a 6 day ownership before a sale at a massive reduction is the usual red flag to run a mile but that's where the forum is beneficial - I know the car and the buyer and on this occasion there is a fantastic deal to be had which is why I said as much in my post.

As for buying it back, I have to admit I was sorely tempted but I told the buyer he is making a mistake that will lead to an unnecessary financial loss but on this occasion he just wants to draw a line under it which I understand based on the news of his wife. I personally can't justify to myself benefitting from that position on top of which I thought it would be a situation you would likely have field day with.

Anyway lot's of words to nobody else's real benefit so lets draw a line under it an move on - you do you and I'll do me.

Thought I was on the FB page for a moment there 😀
I know - one of the reasons I'm here and provide a monthly contribution to the forum is becuase it doesn't contain crap like this.

I'm embarrassed to be part of it - in hindsight maybe I would have been better to just ignore it :bashhead:

There's always the block button!!!!

Fine by me.

I honestly didn't think you would take such offence at my initial comment. But you did, so there we go.

The ONLY issue I still have is being called names. My persona may be not to everyone's taste (especially on here), but I would NEVER call someone I don't know names on a forum. But I will forgive you this once, as you are obviously very upset. Bless.

On a side note....@B21 hates me too! =))

My take on this from a personal perspective and because I have met and bought a car off Garrie. He is a genuine and nice chap, I think he enjoys the thrill of picking up a new Zed and sorting things out and selling. I'm guessing making a couple of hundred on them each time, but also imagine there are losses. I like the threads and wouldn't have bought the Z4 if it were not for them. To me he took the risk out of buying it from Ebay. He bought it, put it through MOT etc. and I benefitted. I know he spent a bit on it and I'm not saying it was perfect, however the price was good. It worked for me as I'm rubbish at buying cars and would most likely have bought a porker from Ebay or FB or be ripped off. So keep it up @RickyBobby as I enjoy reading them and the nice stories of buying and selling.
