Hi there and thanks for having me as a member, I had intended to loiter for a while and then introduce myself in the relevant section, however my eagerness has overtaken me and I have jumped in here with a request for some help, my newly acquired Z3 2.8 (2000) has the ABS and ASC lights constantly on, I thought it could be an ABS wheel sensor so promptly purchased a C110 code reader to help identify which one it might be, however the scanner cannot identify any part of the ABS system but instead comes up with the following code SS03024C which when ok'd on the keypad presents the following message
10,02,00,78 No Found
10,02,00,94 No Found
10,02,00,71 No Found
I am completely stumped by this and am beginning to wonder if the scanner is faulty or maybe the problem lies with the ABS module rather than the wheel sensors, has anyone experienced this problem ? Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks in anticipation - Kev

Did you plug the code reader into the connector under the bonnet or the one near the passenger inside the car?

Plugged into the connector under the bonnet as the scanner came back with a communication error when the one under the dash was used

Ok, the one inside the car only connects to the engine, so I thought that might be your problem. The one under the bonnet should work though.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I had a similar problem with my pre facelift 2.8 and attempts with a number of off the shelf scanners didn't help me as they can't access the ABS module as you have found out.
Dirty or faulty wheel sensors are the main cause for ABS and ASC lights to be on so I first tried to clean them, which didn't work, and so ended up replacing one of my front wheel sensors. I bought a pair from a German seller on Ebay for around £20. I changed the offside one first as this wheel always had the most brake dust on. I then drove the car a couple of hundred yards and the lights went out. This was 3yrs ago and they haven't come back on since.

Thanks for that I think that may be the way to go I will try cleaning the sensors first if no joy I will try replacing them one at a time

I’ve been suffering the same and as Jack Ratt has said the code reader doesn’t pick it (I’ve a pretty good one too). Some garages don’t even have readers that read these ‘old’ cars properly anymore. The second garage I went to has kept an old code reader just for oldtimers like these and that picked it it up straight away.

Bosch sensors available on eBay for around £30 so not too expensive but apparently the removal of the old sensor involves lots of swearing!

Seems to be something in the air at the moment. Sam's zed went into a limp mode 'of sorts' last weekend in the peaks the only fault shown was no communication from the ABS ecu. I replaced the ECU for a secondhand one 2 years ago.

@Paul Rice has a device that reads the sensor codes as well as others, he did mine and it read the code as the N/S rear sensor at fault and even displayed the BMW part number

Could be all the pollen dust!

Mines reduced Rev limit to 5,5k. Sound great if you change just on the cusp of it as it’s like a soft gentl limiter, lovely pops!
Back in winter when the lights came on the Rev limit didn’t immediately drop but now it does.
