If you want to share your impressions , memories and pics of any two or three wheels bike, older than 30 years, please don't hesitate!

My first vehicle was 1964 Vespa GS 160, picture taken at 4.45 in the morning after a Lorry hit it outside the house when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The only other vehicle hit.....was my brothers’ Moggie 1000 which was written off.

Surprisingly it was all repaired and even had a new seat fitted.

Fascinating! They could save the Vespa but not the Moggie!

I had a Vespa too :p
I’ll have to find some photos of it and post it :)
I used to love riding around on it ;)
I’d love another one , but I don’t know if I’d dare ride it now ;)
I did think about getting another one about 9 years ago, but I got a Z instead,as it’s much safer ;)

I had a Raleigh Runabout before very long it's name was change to "Pushabout" :( It was dark green and cream. Our local Bobby had one too, with a very large screen and leg guards, God it must've been hellish slow in head wind cos he was a proper old fashioned big bloke Bobby.

Tony.

It was a very different world back then, Tony. Somehow 25-30 mph seemed enough. Mind you, with the new speed regulators for new cars due in 2021, 25-30mph may once again be enough. My 60 year old Raleigh could get a new lease of life.... :D

1978 GOLDWING K2.jpg

Me on my old 1978 GL1000K2 Goldwing. This photo was taken shortly after we moved to Cornwall in 1995. I was a little bit slimmer but just a bald back then =))

Big engine, but reliable, as I heard. 5 speeds, no? What rpm for cruise speed?

Mine was a 1978 MZ , surprisingly there is a slightly newer one for sale on auto trader bikes at the moment for just under £3000
I was a poor student then and paid £120 for it .

Yes, it's hard to believe, but getting the status of vintage or historical vehicle multiplied many times their initial price.;)
Which is good...they get better with the time, like the scotch.:D

My first one was a 1949 197cc Excelsior in 1961 which I dumped after 4 weeks. I then bought a 1955 Triumph T110 650cc in Bonievile two tone blue of the first model of 1959. In 62/3 I stripped the engine with help of my eldest brother had reborn, different cam, high compression pistons, twin carbs and boy did it go. I only have black & white pics somewhere.
My elder brothers first bike was a 1932 OEC 700 cc with a JAP V engine his second was a 1950 Triumph Speed Twin. Geoff

Some lovely bikes there Geoff. The OEC JAP would be worth a fortune today.

Yes Dan, very reliable, never had to take a spanner to it other than normal servicing. It was very smooth running, 5 speed, 4 cylinders horizontally opposed, and 80bhp @7500rpm. They were quite heavy at 265kgs dry weight, but the weight was low down in the frame as the fuel tank was under the seat and not above the engine as in conventional design.
