As victims of numerous computer setbacks recently, we thought that we had better put some pics of our French Holiday on before this new Laptop gives up the ghost too!!!

As our shutter fingers ran away with us, we have so many photos that we would like to share with you, to fit them on, we decided to put them on posts for each area, so here we go with the first ones.

Before we start, Mike thought this might tickle your fancies!!!

Les Landes...... Messanges.

Lac Leon, near St Girons

Lac Noir (Black Lake) near Seignosse

Mike versus 'The Tsunami' at Seignosse Plage (Beach)

Memories of The Buff. Gr. for the EAC Expeditionary Force, between Messanges & Biarritz

Next episode....... Aquitane - Pyrenees-Atlantique

Aquitane - Pyrenees-Atlantique

Biarritz
We were not impressed with Biarritz, it was very commercialised with everyone trying to blend with the 'Jet Set', we much prefer the country native folk everytime, besides the beach was like builders sand covered in stones (Not pebbles) not like the caster sugar beach bays along the rest of the coast.

Bayonne, a beautiful old city with everyone dressed up for a medieval fayre.

Mike beat the French into submission with a sword as we did 700 years ago

The beach at Hendaye, close to the Spanish border.

The harbour at St Jean de Luz, very old beautiful harbour town, also very close to San Sebastian in Spain.

Next episode................The Pyrenees just over the Spanish border

Interesting comment on Biarritz - it was on our `to do' list for next year but maybe not - keep them coming.

The Pyrenees just over the Spanish border

Some of the breathtakingly beautiful views in the Pyrenees, with an equally impressive Zed to enhance them;)

Time to get Ol' Whistler out for a fresh 'English cuppa' and dine 'Al Fresco'

Next episode..............Vendeé, Normandy and then home.

Vendeé, Normandy and then home.

St Giles Croix de Vie, Vendeé.............

...............and by night

Sandys op-art dessert, delicious!!!

Mont St Michel, Normandy, beautiful, yet again very commercialised, with half of Japan visiting at the same time as us!!!

Inside Sandy found a picturesque view and so did Mike.:)

A view of the French mainland.

An Archway made out of wooden peg tiles

A marvellous holiday, we did 1900 'Top Down' miles in a fortnight of glorious sunshine,
with temperatures still in the 30s at 7.30 at night.
Mike was so brown, I didn't think that they would let him back in!!!:D

Looks like a great hol. Michelle and I would like some of that.

Don't let us put you off going there, Jonco. It just wasn't for us! We prefer 'peopleless' places. but the beach description was accurate! Although the promenade was fronted by a Casino, the two pics below show it did have some pretty walks out closer to the sea.

Excellent pics, thanks for sharing,
But , how did you keep the Zed looking so clean .
Moz

It's not true that the camera never lies, Mozza. It was covered in a constant film of a cross between beach sand and Mosquitos!! :banghead:You just need your glasses on to see it!!!:D

As long as the photos are over a couple of meters away you won't see the dirt!

Brilliant pics M&S, looks like a great holiday, thanks for posting them up. :)

Thank you so much for posting your wonderful pics. I travelled every year to the Les Landes and Aquitaine in the 80s and fell in love with the area. Best part of France in my view. Not many Brits know of this corner of the French countryside. Good to see Hendaye still has a beautiful beach and the Pyrennes have stunning vistas. Did you camp or use the Hostels? Not a lot of room in a Z4 for a tent.
Thanks once again.
Mike

We went with Eurocamp and Hotels, Mike, luckily no problems parking there, We bought the Z4 especially for these trips, as it has so much more boot room than the Z3.
I can understand why you loved it there, it is a beautiful part of France, but in all the years we have been holidaying in France, we have never been disappointed, the roads are great, the people are so friendly and laid back and the views and beaches are to die for, the only thing is that time seems to go so quickly when you are there!
