One dark, dank March day in 2024, an unsuspecting Z owner - moi - took her beautiful Z to the indy mechanic she’s had work on her car for about 15 years as she was hearing a very odd noise from the rear.

Mark, indy mechanic, soon found the cause of this odd noise with a swift peeling back of the boot liner and hey presto! Neither Mark or I could believe our eyes!

The near side top wheel arch was no more!

He and I looked at each other in sheer disbelief and said: “I wasn’t expecting this!” Close-up of what we were looking at:

Being the intrepid investigators we are, we then looked at the offside:

Low and behold, not quite as bad as the other side, but on the way, rust was visible.

So started this new journey with my Z.

Found it in 2024, so did you get it welded up and back into use?

My goodness 😳
I’m lost for words 🥲
Exactly!
So was I when Mark found these.
They were not what I was expecting.
I’d had the car under sealed some time ago and as the garage pressure washed the underside, removed the wheel liners as it closed and then sealed it the next morning, I’m reliably informed that the garage sealed in the water because the underside and arches wouldn’t have had time to dry.
There are some terrible car traders around @Shelly
