Great weekend at the Le Mans Classic. I did take my 911 rather than the Z3M ( needed the luggage space) but ended up camping oppose to Mr Pingu!

Nice to meet you Pingu!
Where abouts did you camp?
I think I've been to the classic 6 times but missed the last few due to kids.
I've been in an alpine GTA, Renault 5 GTT and Clio V6 (can probably spot the pattern!) but would love to go in the Z3!

I’ve been going to CLM for many years and tried various sites. The last few years I’ve used 1st Tickets who market via Pistonheads. They’ve been pretty good and we now buy into the pre erected tents and two meals a day package. Until this year they used Tetra Rouge which was ideally close to the circuit. But for some reason Le Mans have made that into a car park and 1st Tickets have had to relocate to Beausejour which was a 1.5 mile walk away.

I’ve loved my trips to CLM but they have just announced major changes in the format which involves annual rather than bi- annual events and splitting the event around the 1975 date ie 1923- 1975 one year and 1976 to 2015 the next. Being a middle aged codger my interests lie in the 1960 to 2000 eras so it’s a shame I can’t see all of these at one event. Still it’s a great experience- much of the enjoyment around the travelling down with a bunch of mates. I’ve only taken the Z3M once and didn’t see many Z3s there this time so go for it!!!

Ah that new format would spoil things a bit for me too. I like 60's to 90's kind of era.
We usually stayed at the 'blue sud' campsite with Speed chills (who are now Motorsport Tickets). It's just outside the circuit but a very short walk.
I'm sure one of my friends stayed at Beausejour one year and said it wasn't too bad for getting around. I think they might have done some sneaky trips from there through the woods to watch down the mulsanne!

I'll post more after I've got the photos and videos sorted, but needless to say, it was an adventure  .

Chatsworth was locked in the Range Rover for seven hours on a VERY hot day.

Bertie (the red kit car) decided it needed a new alternator after it stopped charging as I entered the Eurotunnel on the way there.

Parade lap was great fun - and quite fast :racecar:, but speed limited by traffic - for me, but not a nutter in an Aston

Paying £18 for Pistonheads Parking on Bugatti was a stroke of genius - no two mile walks for us - although we did have to wait in an air-conditioned kit car for ten minutes while the kiddies raced the circuit. Such hardships. =))

1st Tickets accomodation was excellent as usual. Next time, I'll try harder to make it cheaper, but it was never about "doing it on the cheap". I can sleep in the car if I want cheap.

I managed to get into the Porsche Club compound - it looks fantastic from the outside, but wasn't worth the effort, as there was only one feebie which I've sent to @bertiejaffa . Nothing ventured, though ;).

More details to come...
