Not a BMW post but yesterday my trusty Skoda Superb turned 200000 miles and still runs as good as when i bought it 5 yrs ago with half that on it.
If my last Superb anything to go on then easily got at least another 100k in it as my last one had over 330 on it when I got rid and engine was still sound.

I am a bit of a fan of my Superb I bought on the strength of Herself's experience of her Yeti. If I get anywhere near those miles Steve I'll be over the moon.

I do sometimes wonder about number of miles cars can do and longevity.

I've seen posts from Statesiders who dont seem to have any qualms with picking up vehicles with 100,000 miles on.

The most I've ever seen are the Taxi's in Dubai. For those who don't know, Dubai is a Taxi Town. Wherever you are, just stand on the street corner and one will come by in a couple of minutes, they are metered and cheap, mostly Toyota Camry's and Hyundai Sonata's. Always immaculate, no squeeks or rattles. I started leaning back to look at the Odo and check the mileage (km' -age), 250,000, 350,000, I've seen 500,000 and one 600,000.

Why is it in this country if a car gets to 100,000 miles we think it's a bag of bits . . .

Agreed since under Vag groups wings great value .
My 2015 Superb estate is just a stretched Mk6 golf platform on a longer wheelbase shell mine is an elegance so decent spec
Heated leather , dvd ,cd satnav unit , dual climate , adaptive hid lights Heated front windscreen so nice spec and interior wearing well.
Just serviced a few weeks ago lower covers off engine and box clean and bone dry.
Had it 5 years done nearly 100k in it check oil regularly have never put a drop in between services as always on max this engine like my last is on long life variable miles service times
Which means when reset goes to 720 days and 20k miles but this is variable dependant on a number of factors.
Usually i get around 18.5k before service countdown starts ( never makes the 2yrs) my last Skoda engine was a 130 pd remapped to 175 my current is a 170 cr
Now both engines have had life long extended service times and both made 200k without any issues with engine or transmission.
Last skoda done over 300k and only thing that went wrong was dual mass failed at 226k changed and done another 100k in it ( gear box doesn't need drained on earlier model to be removed so over 300k on original gearbox oil )
Current engine only had routine maintenance ( inc belt and water pump second one on the horizon) only minor thing that did go wrong was chucked up a fault around 2 yr ago for number 2 glow plug new bosch one less than 20 quid easy change job done.
Big estate huge inside especially in rear seat ( more space than an s class merc ) pain to find a parking space sometimes as it is a 5m long car but i would definitely have another one this one and the last one have been trusty servants over the last 12 yrs and nearly 300k miles .

Curious Steve, how many miles per cam belt and turbo? I had a Passat 2.0 diesel and at 54k the turbo whined, the clutch juddered and it needed a cam belt.

I thought the Superb was based on the Passat and the Octavia on the Golf?

I have to be honest and admit I have always been scared of high mileage cars. It costs me a lot as I just can't bring myself to have a car with more than about 30k miles.
My Z3 has 54k and that worries me!

With proper maintenance , high mileage should not be a problem. @ Mint is well over 200K now, Lee's coupe is well up there and my 3.0 has done 186K.

Yes technically speaking you are correct the passat , tiguan , superb and a couple of others sit on the PQ46 platform but the pq46 is just a slightly more robust version of the PQ35 platform ( golf mk5/6) for larger vehicles before both being replaced by the current MQB platform.
So the original chassis design is golf thats why i said that.

What age if it was a 2.0 pd tdi wasn't Volkswagen's finest iteration.

My 99 pre pd 1.9 tdi Seat Alhambra
4 belts ( 3 by me )
Single mass flywheel clutch slave cylinder failed (inside box) at 155k

No turbo , no injectors.
321k when sold

My 02 Skoda superb 1.9 pd tdi 130
4 belts ( 3 by me )
Dual mass failed 226k

No turbo , no injectors
338k when scrapped ( still running fine)

My 15 Skoda Superb 2.0 cr tdi 170

1 belt ( second due )

No clutch faults
No turbo no injectors

Current 202134 miles.

The Z3 is now the longest I have ever kept a car of my own (2 years and 4 months). I have had leases for 3 years but that is the maximum.
